By POPULAR gospel artiste Akinade Ibuoye, widely known as Gaise Baba, has emerged as Nigeria’s leading musician on YouTube for 2025, surpassing Afrobeats heavyweights such as Wizkid, Davido and Shallipopi.
The rankings were released on Wednesday as part of YouTube’s Nigeria Year-in-Review 2025, which highlights the country’s top music videos, leading creators, and the content Nigerians engaged with most throughout the year.
According to the report, Gaise Baba secured the top spot with his hit track “No Turning Back II” featuring Lawrence Oyor. The video, released on 16 May, amassed over 41 million views within just six months, making it Nigeria’s most-watched music video of the year.
The announcement was contained in a statement signed by Addy Awofisayo, YouTube’s Head of Music for Sub-Saharan Africa.
The rankings also revealed that actress and filmmaker Omoni Oboli led the list of top YouTube creators in Nigeria for 2025, reflecting the growing influence of Nollywood, comedy and lifestyle content on the platform.
