Gas Explosion Injures 2 In Ogun, As RCCG Commiserates With Victims

TWO persons were reportedly injured in a gas explosion that occurred on Monday in the Mowe, near the Redemption Camp, in Obafemi Owode Local Government Area of Ogun State.

Stonix News reports that some major media outlets including some bloggers had earlier reported that the explosion occurred at the Redemption Camp now referred to as Redemption City.

Stonix News gathered that four tankers were equally burnt in the explosion that happened at about 10.30a.m, at a gas plant.

People reportedly scampered to safety as a result of the explosion which caused panic among the residents.

The combined efforts of operatives of the the Redeemed Fire Fighters, Federal Fire Service, the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) and the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), put the three hours inferno under control.

Information gathered had it that a gas tanker loaded with content collided with another tanker within the premises which triggered the explosion.

Public Relations Officer of the Federal Fire Service, Ogun State Command, Oluwasegun Ayansiji, confirmed the incident.

Ayansiji explained that the explosion did not occur within the Redemption Camp as being speculated by members of the public

“There was no casualty, but about two people were injured and they have been taken to the hospital.

“The explosion occurred at a gas plant called, SON contractors and it is not inside RCCG as it’s being speculated, but it is close to RCCG.

“A tanker loaded with gas wanted to offload its product inside the company when explosion was ignited,” he noted.

Meanwhile, the leadership of the Redeemed Christian Church of God has empathized with the people involved in the unfortunate gas explosion that occurred in the early hours of Monday, August 29, 2022.

According to a statement from the Department of Public Relations of the mission picked the official Facebook page of Pastor Enoch Adeboye, “the incident which has been brought under control by the combined efforts of the RCCG Fire Service, Ogun State Fire and Lagos State Fire Service, occurred in the Gas depot not too far from the Sagamu-bound traffic between the Car Park C gate and the main gate of the Redemption City.

“Against the news making the round, the incident was completely outside of the Redemption City and our fire service team only responded as part of our community service support to our neighbours within the environ.

“We thank God the incident has been put under control. We wish to inform all residents and visitors to the Redemption City that there is no scare of any sort and everyone can go about their lawful and godly activities.”
