Keke Rider Hacks Refrigerator Repairer To Death

Rita Enemuru, Reporting

Calamity struck in the heart of Warri, Warri South Local Government Area of Delta State as a commercial tricycle (keke) rider hacked a refrigerator repairer to death.

The unfortunate incident started when the keke rider, while reversing his tricycle, hit a corn vendor at Okandeji Street by Ginuwa Junction in Otovwodo, Agbassa Community Warri, on Thursday, June 16, 2022.

A witness relayed that the incident triggered a brawl between the keke rider and the refrigerator repairer who was about to patronize the corn vendor when the accident occurred.

The altercation, which later resulted in fisticuffs between both men, saw the keke rider hitting the head of the repairer with a club which left him unconscious.

Though he was rushed to a nearby clinic for treatment immediately, he, however, gave up the ghost, according to the witness.

The keke rider was said to be among those who rushed the victim to the clinic and later left to continue his business with the hope to come back to check up on him while the victim was receiving medical attention.

Stonix News learnt that when the refrigerator repairer eventually died, the authorities of the said clinic had to trick the keke rider (in connivance with some community leaders) to come over to provide more funds for the treatment of the victim.

The unsuspecting keke rider was said to have cheaply fallen to the trick and was immediately held hostage by the community leaders as soon as he arrived the clinic.

The community leaders wasted no time in calling the police for his arrest.

The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Delta State Police Command,  Asaba, DSP Bright Edafe, confirmed the story, adding that the culprit will be charged to court.
