RESIDENTS of a neighbourhood in Northeast Washington D.C are on the rampage after a yet-to-be-identified man shot a 13-year-old school student whom he suspected was breaking into cars in the neighbourhood.
Karon Blake, 13, was killed in the early hours of Saturday, Metropolitan Police said.
According to a source, police responded to a report of a shooting before 4 a.m (UK Time) on Saturday in the 1000 block of Quincy Street NE, where the officers found Karon with gunshot wounds.
He was rushed to a nearby hospital but died after several lifesaving attempts from medical experts proved abortive.

Police Operatives at the scene of the shooting
The man who opened fire on Karon has neither been identified nor arrested.
Authorities also confirmed that at least two cars were damaged on the block of the shooting.
Reports from another source are suggesting that 13-year-old Karon might have actually broken into some cars that morning, before he was caught and gunned down by a resident.
The man who shot Karon called the police and when officers arrived, he was performing CPR and gave officers an account of what happened.
“I heard noises and observed someone that appeared to be tampering with vehicles,” the man recounts
“He went outside with his registered firearms and opened fire on the deceased,” a police officer said.
Reacting to the shooting, Metropolitan Police chief, Robert J. Contee III, on Tuesday 10th, assured the public that detectives are gathering the facts and will present the case to the U.S. attorney’s office for possible charges.
“A grand jury will determine if a crime occurred based on facts ‐ and not mere speculation,” he said.
