IT’S a big congratulations to all workers on the payroll of the Edo State government as Governor Godwin Obaseki has jacked up the state’s minimum wage to N70,000.
This is coming amid the back and forth game between the Federal Government of Nigeria and the organised labour unions on what to agree on as the new minimum given the current worthlessness of the Naira due to inflation.
The governor made the announcement on Monday while inaugurating the Labour House in the state.
He further disclosed that the new minimum wage for civil servants would take effect on May 1st, 2024.
Stonix News reports that Obaseki is serving out his second term as governor ahead of the governorship election coming up in September this year.
A member of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Obaseki is strongly backing the party’s candidate, Asue Ighodalo, ahead of the contest.
