By General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adeboye, early Saturday, narrated the encounter he had with the occultic world when he was just about two years old in Christ.
He narrated his experience while preaching on the theme: ‘Complete In Jesus’ at the 3×3 Auditorium, Shimawa, Ogun State during the July Holy Ghost Service.
While underscoring the importance of having courage and faith in the unfailing power of Jesus Christ, he said his father-the-Lord directed him to follow and ex-occult member to destroy his ancestral gods, shrines and charms in his Ifewara country home.
Adeboye narrated the 1975 encounter and victory over the occult:
“There was a man in my village, his name was Kaka; he was a top man in the occultic world. He was at the top among the occultic group such that single-handedly protects the town from anybody, including thieves. Kaka was in charge.
“Then, we went to start a Church in my village and the place we found was next to the house of Kaka.
“So, while we were singing, he was listening; he didn’t leave his house, but he was hearing everything.
“When the preaching was going on, he was listening, by the time the altar call was made, Kaka came forward and gave his life to Jesus Christ.
“So, he came to my father-in-the Lord; he said the way you spoke about your God, he must be very powerful. Papa said very very.
“He said in that case, now that I’ve given my life to Jesus Christ, I would need help. Papa asked, what kind of help?
“He said ‘I have an idol in my house (It’s called Shigidi in yoruba, the elders will understand), it’s an effigy, he said I inherited from my father, my father inherited it from his father, it’s the thing we send out at night when we want to kill somebody.
“And this Shigidi is so dangerous that when we send it on an errand we must not sleep until it returns; we must tie down a ram to welcome it when it’s returning.
“As soon as it returns, we slaughter the ram, he drinks the blood and then it will return to its position just like an ordinary idol.
“He said I don’t think I can sleep in the same house with that thing anymore, he said if this idol knocks at the door three times and we don’t open the door, he will come in without opening the door and deal with us. So, he said Papa I want something to be done about it.
“Papa said that’s fine, I will send someone to come and take it out of your house; so Papa sent me (congregation made a noise of disapproval.
“I got to the Church in Ilesa and told the Pastor, I have been sent on an errand to remove something in the house of Kaka.
“He said sure, he didn’t know what and there was another worker who was with Kaka, will you come along with me?
“He supposed to be a strong prayer warrior and they decided to come along; we got to Kaka’s house and he opened the door.
“We were singing a song as we were approaching the door, ‘we are more than conquerors in Jesus’s name.”
“When Kaka opened the door and my colleagues saw what was waiting, Oh Lord God, by the time I came to the last part of the song, I was alone in the room, anyway.
“I won’t go into any other details, but I picked the effigy, I brought it out, at that time I had a Toyota Crown, the old one, it was big and a large booth.
“I had to break this thing before it could go into the booth, it’s that big and it has all kinds of charms tied round it, soap and other stuffs.
“So I got it out, along the way was a shrine that he said belonged to Satan, I also put that one in the booth.
“I took everything to the river and threw it in, pled the Blood of the Lamb and I came back.
“When Kaka saw me that I was the one that was sent, he said ‘Haaaa, are you not the son of Papa Adeboye,? ‘I said yes, you’re the one they sent, I said yes, he said haaa! I told him don’t worry, he said ‘haaa!!’
“About three weeks later, I returned to Ifewara and I branched at his house. He saw me and he was surprised to still see me alive; that was 1975 I’m still alive today.
“I want you to lift your hands to the Most High God and say ‘in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, I will never be afraid again.’
‘You’re going to make another prophecy and make it with all your heart and say ‘in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, I will not die before my time.
“If you believe that, ‘shout Hallelujah.’!!!
