NFF Consults Mourinho On New Coach For Super Eagles

Despite appointing Austin Eguavoen to oversee the Super Eagles in the interim, the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) is reportedly consulting with renowned football experts in choosing the next substantial head coach of the Super Eagles.

Report revealed that the NFF boss, Amaju Pinnick has met with the head coach of Roma football club, Jose Mourinho, as the search for a new capable hand for the Super Eagles continues.

Pinnick is said to have met Mourinho, who is well celebrated in football in a bid to get the best tactician for the country.

A source quoted by the Vanguard said NFF is expected to make the official announcement of the appointment of the new coach for the Super eagles in the coming days. According to the source, the selection of the new coach was influenced by Mourinho.

“The NFF boss went as far as meeting with many respected names including the former Chelsea coach, Jose Mourinho to assist him in getting a good coach for Nigeria.

“The speed and precision with which the NFF applied in securing a new coach could not have been possible without the role played by the ‘Special One’,” the source was quoted as saying.

The source also said Pinnick is keen on making Nigeria secure qualification for the world Cup scheduled for Qatar in 2022, hence the need for his efforts in securing a good coach for the Super Eagles.

“Qualification to the 2022 World Cup is top priority for NFF president Amaju Pinnick,” the source added.
