Gunmen have overrun some villages in Kaduna, killing over 20 persons, report says.
The villages attacked were Kauran Fawa, Marke and Riheya villages in Idasu and Giwa local government area of Kaduna State.
The gunmen destroyed several property, including vehicles, houses and farm produce, which they put on fire.
Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, Samuel Aruwan, in a statement on Sunday, identified the attacked villages as Kauran Fawa, Marke and Riheya, confirming that houses, trucks and cars were also burnt, along with agricultural produce at various farms.
Aruwan further said Governor Nasir El-Rufai, who received the reports with sadness, had sent condolences to the families of the victims.
The governor, according to Aruwan, also commiserated with the affected communities and directed the State Emergency Management Agency to conduct an urgent assessment of the area towards providing quick relief.
