Nigerian Army Responsible For Air Strike In Kaduna Village – State Govt

THE Kaduna State government says the Nigerian Army is responsible for Sunday’s air strike which reportedly left many villager dead and several others injured at Tudun Biri village in Kaduna State.

The Kaduna State Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, Samuel Aruwan, confirmed the development at the end of an emergency security meeting on Monday.

Recall that the villagers were reportedly marking the Maulud celebration of the birth of Prophet Muhammad when an unmanned aerial vehicle bombed some parts of the community.

A yet-to-be-ascertained number of individuals were reportedly killed in the process.

Following the incident on Sunday, the Kaduna State government convened an emergency security meeting on Monday chaired by the Deputy Governor, Dr Hadiza Balarabe.

The meeting was attended by heads of security agencies, religious and traditional leaders as well as representatives of Tudun Biri community where core details regarding the incident were revealed.

Samuel Aruwan, while addressing journalists after the security meeting held behind close doors, explained that the bombing on the villagers was unintended, but unfortunate.

He explained that the troops of the Nigerian Army were on a routine mission against terrorists in the area and accidentally bombed members of the community.

He also disclosed that search-and-rescue operations are still ongoing, adding that those who were injured have been taken to the Barau Dikko Teaching Hospital for treatment.
