OLD secondary school classmates and the academic community of Prince Abubakar Audu University (PAAU), Anyigba, have been thrown into mourning following the passing of one of their distinguished scholars, Dr Jude Rayetunbi, a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Computer Science.

Dr Rayetunbi, aged 52, breathed his last in the early hours of Saturday, 19th April 2025, at his residence in Anyigba, Dekina Local Government Area of Kogi State.

Arayetunbi, as he was fondly called at his alma mater, Community Comprehensive High School (CCHS), Ogori, was among the big boys of Set ’90, which pioneered the maiden SSCE of the 6.3.3.4 education system introduced by the then President Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida.

One of his classmates, Moses Adedeji, popularly known as Emperor, had earlier, on Saturday 19th April at about 4:00 p.m., broken the tragic news of Jude’s demise.

“What a shocking, sad news. Dr Jude Rayetunbi never said goodbye to Set ’90.

The news got to me a few minutes ago from my friend Malik Usman, Deputy Registrar at PAAU, Anyigba, that he died of a heart attack this morning. He was healthy before going to bed last night,” Adedeji had posted on the WhatsApp group of CCHS Set ’90, to which the deceased belonged.
