A robbery suspect met his Waterloo and seven others, including a 17-year-old boy and an ex-convict were arrested in connection with the possession of arms and ammunition in Delta State.
Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Bright Edafe, identified the ex-convict as Ifeanyi Anakwe Samson, aged 28 years.
Others were Chibuzor Obugor, 20, Ike Okwudili, 34yrs (gang leader), Udoka Onyekanu Promise, 17yrs, and Chiazor Daniel, 26, who were nabbed at Aniocha North and Ika North local government areas of Delta and Aniocha Local Government Area of Anambra State.
One fabricated English pistol, and Lifan Super Ladies and Sanya Super Honda motorcycles were recovered from them.
Similarly, Michael Reuben, 29, and Odemba Onochie, 30, both of Okoanala Oko in Oshimili South of Delta State were nabbed with a black polythene bag containing 100 rounds of 7.62MM AK-47 rifle.
DSP Edafe further disclosed in a statement that operatives from Kwale Police Division intervened in an armed robbery operation along Jesus Avenue in Umusadege quarters of Kwale, Ndokwa West LGA.
The hoodlums engaged the police operatives in a gun duel leading to the death of one of the suspects while others fled.
One locally-made gun, four live cartridges, and four expended cartridges were recovered from the hoodlums, Edafe noted.
All the incidents, he added, happened between June 16 and 21 of 2022 in the state.
