RESIDENTS of Ibini Street, off Okoloba Street in Effurun, Uvwie Local Government Area of Delta State are outraged as they woke up to discover an abandoned baby already decomposing in a corner of the street.
It could not be ascertained when the fresh blood was dumped on the spot ostensibly after delivery by its mother.
Warri Aproko, a Facebook account, in its page on Thursday, said the newborn baby, wrapped in red Ankara, was already decomposing when it was sighted by neighbours.
Meanwhile, netizens have begun to condemn the callous act of throwing away an unwanted baby rather than handing it over to an orphanage or somewhere else for safe keeping.
One Cherish Fiaka says: “Jesus Christ! See what some are praying and crying daily for oh Lord, please give it to those who really need it and not ungrateful humans ”
Mere Okeoghene fingered the current hunger and hardship in the land as probable reason the baby was abandoned to die by its mother.
“Na wah oh, how dem nor go abandon pikin wen things for Nigeria dey give people bp it is well ,” she lamented.
For Kate Omonijiate, the mother of the baby deserves some curses: “The mother of this child that abandoned this baby will never and ever hear the cry of a baby in her life again in Jesus name amen and amen .”
Frances Ugochi Ezechinyere says: “What is wrong with all these ladies? why not leave the baby for motherless homes or keep the pikin for church? Merciful God, give children to those that truly desire them ooo.”
