Police Rescue Victim Intended For Murder By Cultists

POLICE officers of the Delta State Police Command on Sunday rescued a victim who was intended for murder by some cultists at Sapele, Delta State.

The unidentified victim was saved by operatives of the Sapele Division during a visibility patrol around the area.

This was made known to Stonix News in a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Bright Edafe.

On that same day, it was noted the officers apprehended a 25-year-old suspect, Lucky Sunday for allegedly snatching a gold chain worth N700,000 from a victim.

After his arrested, it was confirmed that one cut-to-size double barrel locally made pistol, three live cartridges, one torch light phone, and the stolen gold chain were recovered from the suspect.

The statement also added that operatives of Agbor Division recovered one cut-to-size locally fabricated gun and an expanded cartridge from an ongoing armed robbery operation along Uromi Junction, Agbor on Monday.

While the suspects involved in the robbery escaped, it was recorded that the robbery victims were rescued unharmed and that manhunt for the robber is ongoing.

“At about 1523hrs, while police operatives from Sapele division were on visibility patrol around Sapele and environs, there heard some suspected cultists chanting ‘ARO MATE’.

“The policemen swiftly moved to the area where the suspects on sighting the police took to their heels, leaving behind a victim they were holding hostage with the intention to murder him.

“The victim was rescued unhurt and reunited with his family, and one pump action gun was recovered. Investigation is ongoing,” the statement read in part.
