Rita Enemuru Of Stonix News Bags Journalist Of The Year Award

COMMUNICATION and Media Studies Students’ Association (CAMSSA), University of Uyo, Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, has awarded Rita Enemuru of Stonix News the female Journalist of the Year.

The award was presented to Rita during the 2025 CAMSSA Met Gala held at Sheer Grace Arena in the early hours of Saturday.

The CAMSSA Met Gala is a yearly event organised by the students of the Faculty of Communication and Media Studies, University of Uyo, to celebrate the iconic and exceptional students of the faculty.

This year’s event was held to celebrate the Trailblazers, the graduating set of 2025 and to mark the exit of the present executive administration in order to usher in the new one.

The event was well attended by the outgoing Student Union Government (SUG) president of the University of Uyo, Comr Peter Ndueso and the SUG president elect, Comr Utibe Afia.

Being an esteemed member of the Trailblazing Class, the SUG President, Comr Ndueso was presented the Torchbearer Of The Year Award.

During the event, several students in the faculty were awarded in several categories such recognition, excellence, prestige, leadership, sports, glamour and others.

The president of the Faculty, Comr Uduakobong Afia was presented the Distinguish Leadership award.

The Secretary General of the Faculty and class representative of the Trailblazers’ Class, Anthony Uyah was presented with the Trailblazer’s award for his exceptional service of leading the class.

Another student journalist, Confidence Chibueze was also awarded Journalist Of The Year Award in the male category.

One time Director of Academics, Richard Ekeke was presented the Best Academic Student award making it his fourth time of bagging the award.

Another Trailblazer, Chioma Obidozie was presented Group Leader of The Year awarded for being an efficient and exceptional Group Leader.

The Met Gala featured upcoming music artiste and spoken word artiste.

The event ended with a pageantry contest for the Mr and Miss CAMSSA crown with Daniel Eyo and Loyal Caleb emerging the winners.
