OVER seven people have been rescued from a collapsed three-storey building under construction at Aboga along the Igwuruta-Etche Road in Ikwerre Local Government Area of Rivers State.
Witnesses reported that the incident occurred around 1:30 p.m. on Saturday while construction work was ongoing.

Collapsed building
Although no lives were lost, seven out of nine workers on site were rescued with varying degrees of injuries.
A witness said, “On arrival, I saw the building collapsing. Some workers managed to jump out, but others were trapped as the structure came down.”

“All the workers were eventually rescued alive but injured. The last person was found late Saturday night with severe injuries and rushed to hospital in an ambulance,” the source added.

The rescue operation was a joint effort involving the local community, Ikwerre Local Government authorities, and Rivers State officials.
