UI’s Student Grabs Eighth Edition Of ‘Super Bowl’ Oratory Trophy

THE representative of the University of Ibadan, Chineke Ugochukwu, has emerged the winner of the eighth edition of the Super Bowl Oratory Competition.

The competition, held on Friday, 20th December, 2024 at the Dame Okowa Hall at the Alumni Centre of the University of Ibadan, was attended by 13 other tertiary institutions across Oyo State.

The schools in attendance were the University of Ibadan, Lead City University, Abiola Ajimobi University, Federal School of Surveying, Ladoke Akintola University, Oyo State College of Agriculture and Technology, Igboora, Ajayi Crowther University, Atiba University, Dominican University, Emmanuel Alayande University of Education, Federal College of Forestry, Federal Cooperative College, and Federal College of Animal Health and Production Technology, Ibadan.

Miss Kolade Daniella from Abiola Ajumobi Technical University, with a total of 63.2%, came out third and won an award of a hundred thousand naira together with a trophy for her school.

Miss Jacinta Nwachukwu from Dominican University, with a total of 66.9%, came second and won a cash prize of a hundred and fifty thousand naira, and a trophy for her school; while Chineke Ugochukwu from the University of Ibadan with a total of 68.1%, won the competition, and got a cash prize of two hundred thousand naira and a trophy.

This edition of the Super Bowl was organised in conjunction with the Student Affairs of Oyo State with the theme: “This is Nigeria.”

The competition had three rounds. In the first round, each contestant delivered a prepared speech, pitching Nigeria to prospective investors.

The second round of the contest had a Pix-Prompter, in which the contestants were expected to give an extemporaneous short speech on an impromptu picture shown to them, while the third round had all the contestants speaking impromptu on the topic: “My Hero.”
