What Will Make Me Sign Electoral Bill – Buhari

Ola ‘Kiya, Reporting

PRESIDENT Muhammadu Buhari has given only reasons that’ll make him sign the Electoral Bill he has rejected into law.

He said he’s ready to sign the Electoral Act Amendment Bill if the National Assembly made the necessary adjustments.

Buhari disclosed this during a recorded exclusive interview with Channels Television aired on Wednesday evening and monitored by Stonix News.

According to the septuagenarian, the adjustments must include the addition of consensus candidates, indirect primary options to the mode of selecting a candidate for an election, as against the initial direct mode, as the only option to conduct primaries by political parties.

“All I said (is that) there should be options.

“We must not insist that it has to be direct; it should be consensus and indirect,” he affirmed.

The president, when asked if he would sign the bill into law if the adjustments were made, affirmed: “Yes, I will. I will sign.

“There should be options; you can’t dictate to people and say you are doing democracy.

“Give them other options so they can make a choice.”
