ZENITH Bank Plc, sponsors of the Nigeria Women’s Basketball League, has gifted the national women’s basketball team, D’Tigress, ₦200 million in recognition of their historic fifth straight AfroBasket title victory in Ivory Coast last Sunday.
Group Managing Director/CEO of Zenith Bank, Dr. Dame Umeoji, OON, commended the team for their remarkable achievement, pledging the bank’s continued support for women’s basketball in Nigeria.
“Your victory at the 2025 FIBA Women’s AfroBasket is not just a win for Nigeria, it is a win for African sports.
“We celebrate your success not only as supporters, but as longstanding partners in the development of women’s basketball in Nigeria.
“We remain steadfast in our commitment to advancing women’s basketball and promoting sports development nationwide,” Umeoji said.
Team captain and tournament Most Valuable Player, Amy Okonkwo, expressed gratitude on behalf of D’Tigress, lauding Zenith Bank for its consistent investment in the growth of women’s basketball in the country.
