LEADERS of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) from Oke Ogun region of Oyo State have announced the Executive Chairman, Oyo State Housing Corporation, Bayo Lawal, as the running mate of Governor Seyi Makinde for the 2023 governorship election.
This is coming barely 48 hours after the defection of the embattled Oyo State Deputy Governor, Rauf Olaniyan, from the PDP to the opposition All Progressives Congress (APC) Rauf Olaniyan.
The meeting was attended by Governor Makinde, the State Party Chairman, Kunmi Mustapha, Chairman, State Advisory Council, Hosea Agboola, party leaders, elders and leaders from the Oke Ogun region.
The announcement was made after a closed door meeting of the stakeholders at the Presidential Lodge, Government House, Agodi, Ibadan on Tuesday.
Mr Rauf, after announcing his defection, had mooted that he wouldn’t resign from his position in spite of jumping ship.
