5 Killed As Suspected Herders Attack Benue Community

Five people have been reportedly dead following an attack by suspected herders in a community near Makurdi, the Benue State capital.

According to reports, the five were killed after the armed herders stormed and opened fire on Anter Mbalagh community of Makurdi LGA on Tuesday.

A native of Anter Mbalagh community who pleaded anonymity identified deceased as, Ave Usaar, Temanenge kyer, Kpungu Orbakpa, Aondoakura Akume and Terkimbir Orbakpa.

The witness claimed that three of the victims had been buried while the corpses of other two victims were yet to be found.

The Special Adviser to the Governor on Security, Lt Col. Paul Hemba (retd), confirmed the incident of two people killed in the community but could not verify if they were five.

The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Catherine Anene said she had yet to receive the report.
