THE Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, Ph.D., NPM, has reaffirmed the Nigeria Police Force’s commitment to international collaboration in the fight against transnational crime.
This assurance came during a courtesy visit from the Honourable Lord David George Hanson, Minister of the Home Office, United Kingdom, to the Force Headquarters, Louis Edet House, Abuja, on Tuesday, 29th April 2025.
During the visit, Lord Hanson highlighted the growing threat of transnational crime, particularly fraud, stressing its significance for both the UK and Nigeria.
He praised ongoing cooperation between the UK Government and the Nigeria Police Force (NPF), especially in tackling cybercrime, and expressed optimism for an even stronger alliance in the near future.

Lord Hanson also announced plans for the UK Government to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Nigeria Police Force.
The proposed agreement aims to formalise and deepen cooperation, providing a framework for expanded collaboration in the fight against crime.
In his remarks, IGP Egbetokun welcomed the UK’s support and acknowledged the importance of international cooperation in enhancing law enforcement capabilities.
He expressed hope for the establishment of a fellowship exchange programme with the UK’s National Crime Agency (NCA), which would foster long-term institutional linkages and professional development.
The Inspector-General concluded by reiterating the Nigeria Police Force’s dedication to reducing crime through robust partnerships with local and international agencies.
