AT 6:56 am on Wednesday, November 27, 2024, I received a call from a close friend. “Have you called Pastor?” he asked. I replied, “No, why?” He explained that he had been trying to reach Pastor Adurokiya, but he wasn’t answering.
Then he dropped a bombshell: “E be like sey Mummy Adurokiya don die.”
I was covered in goosebumps, unsure of how to respond. My friend then urged me to try contacting Pastor Adurokiya, hoping he might answer my call.
I managed to reach Pastor Adurokiya, and he sounded cheerful, as if nothing was amiss. “O boy, how na?” he asked. I replied, “Fine sir. Are you around sir? I want to come over to the house.” He reassured me, “Don’t worry, we’ll talk later. I’ll call you later,” before ending the call.
It was then that the reality hit me: a rare gem had begun her peaceful journey to the world beyond.
Mummy Adurokiya, as we fondly called her, was an exemplary disciple of Jesus Christ. She was a role model for Christian couples and a loving mother to many of us.
Her hospitality was unparalleled, and her passion for God’s work was inspiring.
I have never met a woman as strong, disciplined, resilient, dedicated, and passionate about spiritual growth as Mummy Adurokiya.
Her passing is a tremendous loss, not only for the Adurokiya family but also for those of us whose lives she touched.
Rest in peace, Mummy Adurokiya. May you continue to rest in the bosom of the good Lord until we meet again.
