Army Dismisses 2 Soldiers Over Cruel Murder Of Yobe Islamic Cleric

NIGERIAN Army has dismissed two soldiers over the cruel murder of Yobe State Islamic scholar, Sheikh Muhammad Goni Aisami.

Stonix News had reported that the scholar, who was traveling from Gashua, had offered a ride to one Lance Corporal John Gabriel with Service Number N/A13/69/1522.

The soldier, on approaching Jajimaji, had confessed that he told the cleric that he was hearing a strange sound from the car.

The Islamic scholar stopped the car to check, after checking the car, he was returning to the car when the suspect shot him dead!

The murderer later called his friend, Lance Corporal Adamu Gideon with Service Number N/A13/70/6552 made away with the car, but nemesis caught up with them and they were subsequently arrested.

Acting commander in charge of 241 Reece battalion, Nguru, Yobe State, Lieutenant Colonel Ibrahim Abdullahi Osabo, while announcing their dismissal, disclosed that “the duo of Lance Corporal Gabriel and Lance Corporal Gideon were officially dismissed from the Nigerian Army on August 27th, 2022. 

He said the decision was taken after the joint board of inquiry set up by the army, in collaboration with the police, had found them guilty on two-count charge.

Osabo revealed further that the suspects were found guilty of failure to perform duties and conduct prejudice to service discipline.

It was, however, gathered that before their dismissal, the suspects were demoted from Lance Corporal to Private.

Thereafter, the two murderers were derobbed in line with military law.

The Commander further stated that the dismissed soldiers will be handed over to the police in Damaturu for prosecution in the court of law.
