HOODLUMS, on Friday, plundered a BUA truck loaded with cartons of spaghetti at the Dogarawa axis of the Zaria-Kano expressway.

This incident occurred barely a week after hoodlums hijacked trailers loaded with foodstuffs in the Suleja area of Niger State, stealing bags of rice and other items in the midst of widespread of economic hardship in the country.

The trailers were said to be heading for Abuja from Kaduna when the thugs blocked the road and made burnfires on the highway.

Sources said that the Friday incident, which occurred around 3:15 pm, saw the culprits making off with the entire cargo of spaghetti.

A trader, who witnessed the incident disclosed that, the driver had parked the truck by the roadside to observe prayers when the hoodlums struck, looting all the cartons of spaghetti before fleeing the scene.

According to other eyewitnesses, a police team deployed to the scene managed to apprehend five suspects in connection with the crime.

The eyewitness described the incident as unfortunate and regrettable, stating that such an act had never occurred around the area since he had been trading there for more than 10 years.

“Not a single carton of the spaghetti was left by the hoodlums on the truck,” the source added.
