THE Federal Ministry of Works has announced the commencement of repair and expansion on both bounds of the long bridge along Lagos – Sagamu Expressway starting from 7:00 a.m on Monday March 04, to March 25, 2024.
The Federal Controller of Works, Lagos State, Engr (Mrs) Olukorede Kesha, disclosed this in a statement released on Friday and made available to Stonix News.
As a result of the repair works, it was stated that all road users have been advised to be adhere to lane discipline as traffic leaving and entering Lagos through the Long Bridge will be narrowed to two lanes on both sides of the bridge to enable the contractor work effectively.
Also, it was stated that the earth road beside the Sagamu bound carriageway would be made motorable to serve as a complimentary road and other road users were advised to use alternative routes.
Motorists were further advised to cooperate with the traffic management officials stationed to manage traffic to ensure hitch-free movements and minimize discomfort during the duration of the repair works.
“The Federal Ministry of Works wishes to inform the motoring public that repair works for the damaged Expansion Joints on the Long Bridge will commence by Monday, 4th of March 2024, simultaneously on both bounds of the Bridge.
“Consequently, traffic leaving and entering Lagos through the Long Bridge will be narrowed to two lanes on both sides of the bridge to enable the contractor handling the repair works to commence works on the other two lanes of the carriageways.
“Thus, all road users are advised to be patient and adhere to lane discipline on both approaches to the Long Bridge and around the narrowed sections on the Bridge.
“The earth road beside the Sagamu bound carriageway will be made motorable to serve as a complimentary road. Other road users are advised to use alternative routes.
“Motorists are further advised to cooperate with the traffic management officials deployed to manage traffic and ensure hitch-free movements to minimize discomfort during the duration of the repair works.
“While thanking the general public for their continued cooperation and understanding, please note that all inconveniences are highly regretted,” the statement read.
