The Centre for the Vulnerable and the Underprivileged (CENTREP) has described as “an act of sheer foolishness for the Lagos State White Paper Panel to edit and rewrite the findings of the Lagos EndSARS Panel.”
Executive Secretary of the civil group, Oghenejabor Ikimi, in a statement on Monday, also called for justice for gruesome killing of Sylvester Oromoni Jnr. at Dowen College Lekki, Lagos.
“The Lagos State White Paper Panel had no power whatsoever to rewrite the findings of the Lagos EndSARS Panel.
“The above no doubt is a traversy of justice and the proposed peace walk by the Lagos State Governor cannot be substituted for justice.
“Lagosians wants justice and not peace walk,” Ikimi reiterated.
The fiery human rights activist also referenced a statement credited to former chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Professor Maurice Iwu, over padding of budgets of election in his time.
“Our attention has also been drawn to the revelation of the former INEC Chairman, Professor Maurine Iwu in a recent press interview where he said that the sum of N84 billion was voted for voters registration exercise during his time as INEC Chairman for an exercise that actually cost INEC N3 billion.
“Ladies and Gentlemen our political elites and elected leaders over the years have engaged themselves in the wanton looting of our common-wealth vide budget padding and all sorts of unscrupulous means in conjunction with Civil “Evil” Servants.
“We call on all citizens to again rise to the occasion by making our elected leaders accountable for their actions,” he posited.
