Fuel-laden Tanker Rams Into Mother Carrying Her Three Children From School On Motorcycle

A fuel-laden tanker with break failure, Monday evening, lost control and rammed into a mother returning with her three children on motorcycle from school.

The tears-dropping tragedy occurred along Old Lagos/Asaba road, Boji-Boji Owa, directly opposite Okoh Junction, Ika Northeast Local Government Area of Delta State.

The fuel truck which brakes failed reportedly rammed into several other vehicles and commuters.

Three persons, including the woman with her little child and a middle-aged pedestrian, had their bodies dismembered in the fatal accident.

The deceased lady was said to be riding on her ladies’ motorcycle and was headed towards the traffic light junction with her three children she picked from school when the truck suddenly ram into them.

The woman lost her life, one of her girls and another victim to the cold hands of death on the spot.

Some other casualties with varying degrees of injuries included the deceased lady’s eldest child were were rushed to the Central Hospital, Agbor for medical attention.

Meanwhile, a joint team of the Nigerian Army, Federal Road Safety Corps and the Police from Owa-Oyibu and the Agbor Divisions were swiftly mobilized by the Chairman of Ika Northeast Local Government Area, Mr Victor Ebonka, to clear the heavy gridlock caused by the accident.

The council boss prevailed on angry youths who were poised for a showdown and ready to aggravate the tension by torching the fallen tanker.

Speaking with Victor Ebonka, who is also the State Chairman of ALGON, he sympathized with the victims’ families, describing the accident as pathetic and very unfortunate.

He advised truck drivers to ensure that their vehicles were in working condition and also reduce their speed to the barest minimum, particularly when driving along sloppy roads.
