Gunmen overrun banks, three feared killed, several injured in Kogi

There’s tension in Yagba West Local Government Area of Kogi State, as daredevil armed robbers, Tuesday, allegedly overran three financial banks, killing at least three persons, Stonix News can report. Ya

The gunmen also reportedly did not spare the police station in sight in the area as they were said to be armed with grenades and dynamites.

The incident happened at Odo Ere and Egbe, as sources said the UBA in the town was bombed.

The Access Bank and Union Bank at Egbe, too, were also reportedly overrun by the hoodlums.

“Yes, it’s the truth; even a police station was not spared.

Two persons were feared dead.

“Hospitals are already filled with people injured,” the source on ground told Stonix News.

Further checks revealed that the third person feared dead was at Egbe.

It was gathered that the marauders proceeded to UBA in Odo Ere with heavy armaments beyond the ordinary guns seen with criminals.

“They sound deeper and fiercer. Egbe and adjoining communities have taken cover as it were,” another source noted. 

Security agencies were yet to drop an official statement on the incident as of the time of filing the report.

Stonix News reports that Odo Ere, popularly called Ere Gajo, is the headquarters of Yagba West Local Government Area, of Kogi State in Nigeria.

Egbe Mekun, also popularly called Egbe, is a historic town located in the Yagba West Local Government Area of the state.
