A domestic dispute between siblings in Ukwulu, Anambra State, took a violent turn on the evening of 12 April, prompting swift intervention by the Anambra State Police Command.

According to a statement released by the Command, officers attached to the Special Anti-Cultism Squad, Enugu-Ukwu, responded promptly to reports of gunfire in the area.

Upon arrival, police operatives rescued a gunshot victim and successfully de-escalated the situation.

Two suspects were arrested at the scene, and police recovered an AK-47 rifle, a pistol, and six rounds of live ammunition.

The injured victim was taken to hospital and is reportedly responding to treatment.

The two suspects are currently in custody and undergoing interrogation.

“The rapid response of our operatives prevented what could have been a much more tragic outcome,” the police added.
