PALPABLE joy filled the air on Tuesday as the Tantita Security Services Nigeria Limited (TSSNL), led by High Chief Government Ekpemupolo alias Tompolo, handed over a remodeled Transit Accommodation for Soldiers at the 3 Battalion, Nigerian Army, Effurun, Uvwie Local Government Area of Delta State.

Commending the feat at the inauguration of the magnificent facility, General Officer Commanding (GOC), 6 Division of the Nigerian Army, Maj. Gen. Jamal Abdussalam, lauded TSSNL not only for the fight against crude oil theft in the Niger Delta, but extending a hand of fellowship to the force.

Speaking as the Guest of Honour, the army boss, however, vowed to recover all weapons snatched from slain military officers and soldiers at Okuama at the peak of the land dispute between the Urhobo community and Okoloba in March.

Maj. Gen. Abdussalam said his men would continue to conduct its operations to recover the equipment and arms carted away in Okuama Community, Ughelli South Local Government Area of Delta.

“We remember, with sadness, the event of March 14, 2024 in the Okuama Community where our troops were brutally murdered.

“We will not rest, we will continue to conduct operations until our equipment and arms are recovered,” he said.

Abdussalam said that the transit accommodation rebuilt and donated by Tompolo would address the critical needs of the troop, adding that the initiative was in line with the philosophy of the Chief of Army Staff (COAS).

The GOC commended the management of the TSSNL for the laudable project which, according to him, would benefit the unit, brigade and by extension the Nigerian Army.

He said that the project underscored the importance of completing operational successes in the field with sound administration and robust welfare of troops.

The general also said that the initiative had demonstrated the importance and power of quality leadership and unity of purpose in the attainment of one big goal.

“The transit accommodation represents a remarkable milestone as it addresses the critical needs of our troops.

“The project highlights the impactful discourse of Corporate Social Responsibilities (CSR) in the spirit of jointness.

“I am aware of the enormous resources Tantita committed to the project. The project shows that our bond transcends operational synergy in the field.

“Thank you so much for complementing the effort of the Nigerian Army in improving the welfare of personnel.

“I urge you to also look at other barracks in our areas of responsibilities and extend the goodwill to them,” he pleaded.

Abdussalam said that the project would go a long way in lifting the spirit of the personnel and then to put the project into good use and maintenance.

Earlier, in his remark, Mr Kestin Pondi, the Managing Director of TSSNL, said that the project being part of its CSR initiatives, was just a way to appreciate the Nigerian Army.

Pondi was represented at the event by Capt. Warriedi Enisuoh, the Executive Director, Operation, Technical of the TSSNL.

The facility

He said that the task for the company to have successfully protected crude oil theft would not have been easy without the support of the military.

“As a private security company, we are not allowed to hold arms, that is why we relied on the government security forces.

“Over time, a lot of them have sacrificed their lives while trying to make sure we live.

“This project is a holding facility for troops on transfer. To make them feel comfortable,” he said.

Pondi said that the contract of the company was based on its performance, adding that they could only achieve the feat with the support from the government security forces.

He said that the chairman and other top management of the company were of the view that any project that is worth supporting the development of the environment should be pursued with vigour.

“I promised that we will continue to stand by the government security forces as long as you stood by us.

“This is the begining of the greater partnership and more things to come,” he said.

The fully furnished facility had a total of 68 rooms, 18 toilets and bathrooms and three central kitchens, among other facilities in the barracks.

The highlight of the event was the cutting of tape by the special guest of honour.

In attendance were military and paramilitary personnel as well as staff of the TSSNL.
