Registrar of the institution, Mr Yahaya Segun Alilu, in a statement obtained on Friday, unveiled the female student as Miss Glory Ojochegbe Samuel, a 300-level of the Department of Social Science.

The incident, which occurred in the presence of the Igala girl (not Ebira girl as earlier speculated), Miss Glory Ojochegbe Samuel, has prompted significant concern within the university community and beyond.

He said amid the tragedy, the institution remains in a state of mourning following the sudden and tragic death of Mr Ibikunle, who was also a lecturer in the department.

While the exact circumstances surrounding the death of the lecturer remain unclear, the University’s management reiterated its commitment to transparency and justice, assuring that investigations by the relevant authorities are currently ongoing.

In the press statement, the University expressed its deep sorrow and described the situation as both “tragic and disturbing.”

The statement further cautioned the public and media outlets against spreading unverified claims or drawing premature conclusions, as this could impede the investigation or cause undue harm to individuals uninvolved in the incident.

The Registrar of PAAU, Mr Alilu, who signed the statement, specifically addressed social media speculation that has since implicated other students in the tragedy.

The University firmly dissociated Miss Bello Yahaya Lubabat, a student in the Department of Educational Administration and Planning, from the ongoing matter, stressing that she and others wrongly mentioned should not be subjected to unfounded allegations.

“The values of truth, fairness, and justice remain central to our university ethos,” the Registrar noted, urging restraint and responsible journalism as authorities work to establish the facts.

Students, staff, and members of the wider university community have been urged to remain calm while grieving respectfully, as the institution grapples with the loss and the questions it has raised.

Support services have reportedly been made available for students affected by the news.

As investigations proceed, PAAU has assured the public that it will continue to provide updates in line with verified developments.

Meanwhile, the institution has asked for continued patience, respect for the deceased, and compassion for those affected.
