TRAGEDY has struck Prince Abubakar Audu University following the sudden and controversial death of one of its lecturers, Dr Olabode Abimbola Ibikunle, who passed away in a hotel room during an alleged sexual encounter with a 200-level student.
The incident, which occurred three days ago, has sent shockwaves through the bustling university community.
Dr Ibikunle, who was a lecturer in the Faculty of Education and known for his strict disciplinary approach, reportedly died shortly after consuming a large quantity of energy drinks in preparation for what has been described by insiders as a “marathon session”.
The student involved, identified as a second-year Social Studies Education undergraduate, is currently in police custody.
The undergraduate, identified as a delectable Ebira girl whose name is still in the wraps, allegedly accompanied the late lecturer to the hotel, where the pair booked a room.
According to reports, Dr Ibikunle collapsed midway through their encounter. Emergency services were alerted, but he was pronounced dead at the scene.
Authorities at the Anyigba Area Command of the Nigeria Police have confirmed that investigations are ongoing.
While the student has denied any wrongdoing, police have not ruled out foul play and are examining the possibility that the deceased may have been poisoned.
The late Dr Ibikunle was a married man with children. His unexpected demise has sparked widespread conversation across campus, with mixed reactions ranging from grief to disbelief — and, in some quarters, celebration.
Kogi State University has yet to issue an official statement on the matter.
Meanwhile, the police continue to question the student as they await autopsy results to determine the exact cause of death of the randy lecturer.
