Ola ‘Kiya, Reporting
AMID several homes in disarray over barrenness, a 23-year-old call-girl, Mary Olatayo, has sold her three-week-old baby for a paltry N600, 000.
Stonix News reports that the sacrilegious transaction took place in Ogun State.
The father of the baby was said to have reported the case at the Mowe Divisional Police Headquarters, Ogun State.
The lady, Olatayo, was subsequently arrested on August 18.
The father of the baby had told the police that he had a relationship with her, which brought about the pregnancy and the baby.
He had disclosed to the police that when Mary got pregnant, he rented an apartment for her where she lived till she gave birth to the baby boy.
But there was a sudden twist when Olatayo absconded with the baby from the rented apartment just three weeks after delivery.
She was said to have relocated to a brothel for a fresh ‘hook up’ with another man in continuation of her salacious trade.
Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Ogun Police Command, Abimbola Oyeyemi, said father of the boy tried in vain to locate mother and child.
Oyeyemi further disclosed that the DPO of Mowe Division, SP Folake Afeniforo, on getting the tip-off, detailed detectives to search her out and the suspect was subsequently arrested.
Oyeyemi further said Olatayo “confessed to the police that she had sold the baby to someone in Anambra State at the rate of N600, 000!
“She confessed that it was her friend, Chioma Esther Ogbonna, who led her to the buyer in the state and that they both shared the money equally.”
Her confession led to the arrest of Chioma, whom Oyeyemi said also corroborated Mary’s claims.
Oyeyemi said investigation had revealed that Olatayo, who’s a native of Omu-Aran in Kwara State, “is a call-girl who sees the baby as a disturbance to her business, hence she decided to do away with the baby.”
He added that Olatayo had an accomplice in Imo-born Chioma, “who quickly contacted the buyer in Anambra State.”
Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police, Lanre Bankole, has ordered the transfer of the suspects to the anti-human trafficking and Child Labour unit of the State CIID for further investigation.
CP Bankole also directed that everything legal must be done to recover the sold baby.
