Newly Promoted Principals In Delta Urged To Put In Their Best To Improve Education

The Permanent Secretary, Delta State Post Primary Education Board (PPEB), Mr. Augustine Chukwuma, has admonished newly-promoted level 17 principals in public secondary schools to bring out their best in order to improve the educational system in the state.

Chukwuma gave the advice in Asaba while presenting promotion letters to 31 newly elevated teachers into the Principal Merit Grade 17 on behalf of the Chairman of the board, Chief (Mrs.) Christiana Etaluku and members.

He commended the State Governor, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa for providing strategic platform for the uplift of teachers in the state.

Mr. Chukwuma urged the principals to be innovative towards improving the administrative strategies in their schools.

He stressed that the importance of training and retraining of teachers is in order for them to be abreast with the modern trends of teaching

According to him, there is the need to change the narratives in the education sector in the state.

In their separate remarks, the Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Teachers, Delta State chapter, Comrade Titus Okotie, who is the principal of Uwheru Secondary School and the principal of Okpanam High School, Mrs. Rachael Obiageli Ogbogo as well as the principal of Alegbo Secondary School, Effurun, Mr. Pius Umunade said that the elevation would spur them to contribute more to the growth of the education system.

They appreciated the governor, the ministry of Basic and Secondary Education as well as the State Post Primary Education Board for their promotion.

Comrade Okotie , who specifically noted that promotions should not be delayed unnecessary especially now that the government was no longer paying promotion arrears, said that the teachers’ recommendations for the improvement of the education system should be taken seriously.

Meanwhile, the Permanent Secretary, Delta State Post Primary Education Board (PPEB) , Mr. Augustine Chukwuma, has received award of recognition for his excellent performance and contributions to the growth of the education system in the state from the Nigeria Institute of Human and Natural Resources.

Receiving the award in Asaba, Mr. Chukwuma described the recognition as a moral booster to always contribute his quota towards taking the education sector to enviable height in the state.
