By THE NNPC Limited – Chevron Nigeria Limited Joint Venture (NNPC-CNL JV) has announced the successful drilling of the Meji NW-1 well in Petroleum Mining Lease 49, shallow offshore in the Western Niger Delta.

The well was spud on September 2, 2024, and reached a depth of 8,983ft by September 13, encountering 690ft of hydrocarbons in Miocene sands, further appraising the Meji field.
This achievement aligns with Chevron’s global exploration strategy of resource development in existing areas.
Olusoga Oduselu, General Manager, Policy Government and Public Affairs, stated, “This accomplishment demonstrates our commitment to growing Nigeria’s resources and contributing to the nation’s oil and gas industry development.”
He said the NNPC-CNL JV will continue to collaborate with the Nigerian government and stakeholders to support the industry and economy.
