NNSS Ogbomoso Wins Chemistry Competition, Bags N75,000 Cash Prize

STUDENTS of the Nigerian Navy Secondary School (NNSS), Iresa-Apa, Ogbomoso, Oyo State, on Wednesday, October 9, 2022, won a Chemistry competition and bagged N75,000 cash prize.

Fourteen students represented NNS Ogbomoso at the event.

A scoop by Stonix News showed that over 20 secondary schools in Oyo State participated in the competition which was hosted by the American Chemical Society, Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, Ogbomoso Chapter.

Stonix News gathered that the students were instructed to think out a problem that could be solved with Chemistry, just as they participated in lectures, quiz and project presentation.

The 14 students, who represented NNSS Ogbomoso, presented a project on the use of electrolytes for electricity production and a homemade electrolyte tester.

The project eventually earned NNS Ogbomoso the first position in the competition with a cash prize of N75, 000.

It was further gathered that to boost the morale of the students and their teachers, the N75,000 cash prize was shared among the 14 participating students and their Chemistry teacher who was the team leader by the Commandant, Commander BV Oshatuyi.

Elated Commander Oshatuyi did the presentation at the parade ground of the school to encourage other students that hard work and diligence are sure roads to excellence and still have a place in society.
