Police Rearrest Murder Suspect

Micheal Chukwuebuka, Reporting

OPERATIVES of Washington Metropolitan Police Department have rearrested a murder suspect who escaped custody in September.

The announcement was made by the police department in the late hours of Thursday 26th that the 30-year-old suspect, Christopher Haynes was arrested by the U.S Marshals Service’s Capital Area Regional Fugitive Task Force in nearby Oxon Hill, Maryland.

Stonix News gathered that Haynes was originally arrested on September 6 in connection with the murder of Brent Hayward, 33, at a northeast D.C. gas station on August 12.

Shortly after his arrest, Haynes complained of an ankle injury and was taken by officers to George Washington University Hospital.

According to the police, while Haynes was being handcuffed to a hospital gurney, he assaulted an officer and fled.

Haynes remained at large for nearly two months despite authorities placing a $30,000 reward for anyone who provides information that would lead to his recapturing.

As of the time of filing this report, Haynes was in custody, but police would not comment on how he was tracked.
