The suspected 55-year-old ritualist was said to have slumped and died about 48 hours after his arrest.
Recall he was caught with the human skull in Ondo town, headquarters of Ondo West Local Government Area of Ondo State.
After he slumped, the suspect reportedly gave up the ghost in a hospital where he was rushed to for medical attention.
Olayiwola was nabbed and paraded with fresh human head by men of the state police on Thursday December 23.
He had reportedly confessed to the crime while investigation was still ongoing before he was pronounced dead by medical personnel at the police hospital.
The suspect had disclosed as a herbalist he had ordered for the fresh human head from one of his customers at N60, 000 in order to use it for money-making rituals and ensure a better life.
The State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Funmilayo Odunlami, who confirmed the suspect’s death, said Olayiwola slumped while in the police custody.
She said after he slumped, the 55-year-old man could not talk and was rushed to the police clinic where he eventually died, adding that the police would carry out an autopsy to unravel the cause of the death while efforts are still on to arrest his accomplices.
Stonix News recalls that the State Commissioner of Police, Oyeyemi Oyediran, last Thursday, paraded the suspect, who was arrested after intelligence report that he was about to receive a consignment.
He said the suspect was apprehended with the fresh head delivered to him and confessed that it was meant for ritual purpose to improve his fortune.
