Dreaded Covid-19 pandemic has paid a visit to the Nigeria’s seat of power, Aso Rock, Abuja, afflicting some presidential aides.
Stonix News gathered that those infected included the President’s Aide-de-camp (ADC), Yusuf Dodo, Chief Security Officer (CSO), Aliyu Musa, and the Senior Special Assistant (SSA) to the President on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu.
Reports say their lab test results came out positive during the week.
The report, which had earlier listed Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, as being among infected was later refuted on Sunday by his aide, Segun Adeyemi in a statement.
Garba was quoted in a medium as saying: “I have no confirmation of the cases you mentioned, but yes I have been afflicted by the mild variant of the COVID-19.
“I felt okay from the beginning, maybe because one had received all three jabs, and right now, I feel 100 per cent.
“I just finished my hour-long running exercise.”
It could not be ascertained if that was the reason the office of the First Lady, Aisha Buhari, was shut and staff directed to proceed in an indefinite holiday early last week.
Meanwhile, Alhaji Mohammed’s media aide, Adeyemi, made the denial saying his boss “For the record, the Minister does not have Covid-19, hence he is neither in isolation nor receiving treatment anywhere.
“That report, which was first published by an online newspaper and then latched on to by some mainstream lapdog media, once again highlights the uphill task we face in our campaign to stamp out fake news and misinformation.”
