FORMER Nigerian international and Super Eagles defender, Sam Sodje, has felicitated with Rt. Hon. Arthur Akpowowo on his election as the Deputy Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly.
Stonix News reports that Oloorogun Akpowowo represents Ethiope East Local Government Area of the state at the state assembly.
Sodje, who’s Special Adviser to the immediate past Governor Ifeanyi Okowa on Sports, described Oloorogun Akpowowo as a personality with leadership qualities right from his days as a student at the university.
“I want to use this opportunity to congratulate my brother and representative of the good people of Ethiope East Local Government Area in the Delta State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Arthur Akpowowo on his election as the Deputy Speaker of the Delta State house of Assembly.
“The election of Oloorogun Arthur Akpowowo as the Deputy Speaker did not come to me or the people of our Local Government Area as a surprise, considering the leadership qualities that he has constantly exhibited in all the public positions that he has occupied within his short, but eventful political career.
“The truth is that the Deputy Speaker’s leadership qualities started manifesting during his university days as a student activist and then in the State’s political arena as the youths leader of our great party, the Peoples Democratic Party.(PDP).
“The same qualities followed the Deputy Speaker to his office as the Hon. Commissioner for Urban Renewal during the immediate past government of our most distinguished governor, His Excellency, Dr.(Sen) Ifeanyi Okowa.
“No wonder, therefore, that the people of Ethiope East Local Government Area considered him fit and proper to be elected as their representative into the Delta State Assembly, a decision that has now been further confirm by his election as the Deputy Speaker by his fellow members who voted overwhelmingly in his favour.
“Olorogun, we the good people of your constituency are very proud of you and we are solidly behind you as you take up your new office to make law for the good governance of Delta State.
“Once again on behalf of my family and the good people of Ethiope East Local Government Area, we celebrate your success and totally identify with you. A very big congratulations,” the former Porthmouth Football Club sensation noted.
