Three 15-year-old boys have been caught attempting to mutilate a 13-year-old girl for ritual purpose in Sagbama community of Bayelsa State.
They were nabbed by detectives of the Bayelsa State Police Command in collaboration with youths of Sagbama community.
The teenage suspects were identified as Emomotimi Magbisa, Perebi Aweke and Eke Prince.
Items recovered from three boys
The trio, who are natives of Sagbama community, alledgedly accosted the victim, Endeley Comfort, hypnotised her to follow them to the apartment of one Emomotimi Magbisa in Sagbama community.
While there, they allegedly cut the girl’s finger and sprinkled the blood on a mirror for an alleged ritual purpose.
Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Bayelsa State Command, SP Asinim Butswat, in a statement made available to Stonix News, said police operatives got the hint when youths in the area noticed the suspicious movements of the suspects and raised the alarm.
“The suspects were subsequently arrested and some substance suspected to be charms were recovered from them.
“The suspects have confessed to the crime. The victim was rescued and rushed to the hospital for medical attention.
“The suspects have been transferred to the Anti-kidnapping unit for discreet Investigation,” he narrated.
Butswat quoted the Commissioner of Police, Bayelsa State Command, CP Ben Nebolisa Okolo, as commending the efforts of the community youths for their vigilance in the community and the arrest.
