Teenager Shot Dead By Officer Conducting Checks

ACCORDING to the state police, a teenager was shot and killed by a police officer conducting a welfare check at a residence in Nebraska.

Reports reaching Stonix News confirmed that the shooting occurred Tuesday afternoon in Columbus, a city located about 90 miles west of Omaha.

The Nebraska State Police, as of when filing this report, are investigating the shooting.

“The Columbus Police Department was conducting a welfare check on a subject following a report of potential self-harm,” Nebraska State Patrol said in a press release.

During the welfare check, an officer shot the 17-year-old boy who was later pronounced dead at the scene.

According to the state police, the officer involved in the shooting has been placed on administrative leave, adding that there is no active threat to the community.

Also, no additional details on the shooting are being released at the time of filing this report.
