A first-class graduate of the Abia State Polytechnic, Aba, one Mary Ogechi Ezekiel, has been crushed to death shortly after her clearance for the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) on Tuesday.

The deceased, a fresh graduate of Accounting Department of the polytechnic, met her untimely and tragic end in front of the institution a few hours after her academic clearance.

Her remains

Checks by Stonix News showed a post made by the deceased on Facebook indicating March to be her birthday month.

Narrating what transpired, a source disclosed that Mary, who graduated with straight As, was first knocked down by a tricycle before she was subsequently ran over by a fast-moving heavy-duty truck.

The murderous truck

“Unfortunately, she was hit by a tricycle while trying to cross to the other side of the road; before she could get up, she was then crushed by a fast-moving truck,” the source said.

As per her excellent grade, it was learnt that Mary had already received a scholarship from an organisation to do a post-graduate course.

Following her death, angry students of the Abia State Polytechnic stormed the street and surrounded the tanker that crushed her to death.

Friends and colleagues have gone on Facebook to mourn her.

One Happiness Ezinne posted: “When I heard trailer knocked down a student of Abia state polytechnic, I was just thanking God that none of my course mates was missing from day one to our finals, even when we graduated and defended our projects God still stood by us, little did I know that the student who was knocked down is my course mate, Asst.
