Spiritual Leader Arrested For Defiling Minor, Disappearance Of Members

Micheal Chukwuebuka, Reporting

A spiritual leader, popularly known as “Buddha Boy”, has been arrested on charges of sexually assaulting a minor and involvement in the disappearance of at least four followers from his camps.

The Nepalese, Ram Bahadur Bamjan, is believed by many to be the reincarnation of Siddhartha Gautama, who was born in southwestern Nepal over 2,500 years ago.

Buddhist scholars, however, have been skeptical of Bamjan’s claims.

According to Nabaraj Adhikari of the Central Investigation Bureau, Bamjan was arrested on Tuesday night from his house in a suburb of Kathmandu, the country’s capital.

Stonix News reliably gathered that Bamjan tried to flee by jumping two floors from a window when the officers arrived at his home but was unsuccessful and was taken into custody.

A stack of Nepalese banknotes equivalent to $227,000 and other foreign currencies amounting to $23,000 seized from the house at the time of the arrest, were also displayed by officials.
