A final-year student of the Department of Forestry at the Michael Okpara University of Agriculture (MOUAU), Abia State, Nigeria, has been delivered of a quintuplets.
This is coming eight months into the ongoing industrial action by members of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), perhaps fulfilling the biblical admonition that “all things work for for good..”
The student, identified as Oluomachi Nwojo, was delivered of the five bundles of joy, comprising three girls and two boys, at about 9:15p.m last Monday, October 3, 2022.
The 24-year-old mother was obviously a month pregnant before the ASUU commenced its strike in February which made the pregnancy a smooth ride.
Oluomachi reportedly was delivered of the five babies at the Federal Medical Centre Umuahia is too weak to talk owing to the stress of the labour at childbirth.
Oluomachi’s mother, Priscilla Nwojo, was elated by the gift of the quintets to her daughter.
She, however, acknowledge that such uncommon blessing has its peculiar challenges, especially at a time baby foods are virtually unreachable for the poor.
She, therefore, appealed to governments and concerned individuals to come support the family in whatever way necessary.
“It’s not easy to take care of one (baby), how much more five under the present situation of Nigeria,” she quipped.
The 56-year-old grandmother, who’s a petty trader from Amamba in Abiriba kingdom of Ohafia Local Government Area, released her contact: 08035746487, seeking help from people.
”I thank God for this special gift. I’m a trader. I deal on pap and my husband is a tailor.
“We will be happy if government can come to our help because it’s not easy to take care of one (baby), not to talk of five. But we thank God in everything,” she added.
Stonix News reports that owing to fatigue, mother of the babies could not field questions from journalists.
