DEATH, deemed as so cheap, has claimed a middle-aged man in Sapele, Delta State, Nigeria, during a scuffle that ensued when his domestic dog allegedly bit a neighbour’s child.
Stonix News gathered that the deceased pet bit the child of his neighbour some days back and refused to take responsibility for the child’s treatment.
The deceased, identified as Mr. Dafe Oyibo, was said to be at his residence when relations of the child that the dog bit met him and demanded that their child be taken for treatment to avert Rabies.
The request generated a scuffle between the child’s relations and Mr. Oyibo, the pet’s owner, during which he sustained a head injury after he was hit with a plank.
Sources said Mr Oyinbo was on his way to the hospital to treat his bleeding head when he fell off the motorcycle he boarded.
He was later confirmed dead on arrival at the hospital.
When contacted by Stonix News, Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Delta Police Command, DSP Bright Edafe, confirmed the incident.
“We can’t confirm if the dog bit anyone; however, there was actually a scuffle that resulted from the fear of what the dog usually do to people in the compound.
“It was during that disagreement that one of them picked up a plank and hit the man who later died.
“For now, they’ve all deserted the compound, but we are on their trail,” Edafe noted.
