EFCC Detains Staunch Buhari Supporter, Osita Okechukwu Over Alleged Graft

Ola ‘Kiya, Reporting

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), on Saturday, detained the Director-General of Voice of Nigeria (VON), Mr Osita Okechukwu, over alleged misappropriation of public funds running into N1.3 billion.

The DG is an ardent stalwart of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and a vociferous supporter of President Muhammadu Buhari.

Stonix News gathered that he was also detained by the anti-graft agency over an alleged case of conspiracy and abuse of office.

Okechukwu was reportedly invited by EFCC over the allegations against him.

Reports said he honoured the invitation on Saturday at about 1.30p.m when he arrived at the commission’s headquarters at Jabi, Abuja.

Amid sketchy details, Stonix News gathered that the VON boss was still being quizzes by EFCC operatives as of Saturday evening.

EFCC spokesperson, Wilson Uwujaren, has confirmed that the VON DG was invited by the anti-graft agency and gave no further comments on the detention.
