SEQUEL to the ongoing onslaught on criminality as directed by the Commissioner of Police, CP Wale Abass, the CP-Decoy Squad led by ASP Julius Robinson, has arrested Nyero Sunday, 29, and eight others at Okpe Local Government Area of Delta State.
The suspects were arrested through intelligence and have reportedly confessed of their involvements in numerous kidnapping/armed robbery operations as well as terrorizing the Sapele-Warri road.
Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Bright Edafe, said further investigation led to the arrest of one Umar Bello, 33, from Sokoto State, who resides in Warri.
The suspect, he claimed, bought the stolen phones and other valuables forcefully taken from their victims, adding that a Toyota Corolla with Reg. No. WWR 353 LS, a locally-made cut-to-size single barrel pistol, 11 rounds of live cartridges, were recovered from the syndicate while effort is ongoing to apprehend other fleeing members.
Edafe further reported that two other criminal suspects were nabbed in Warri on May 15 by police operatives of ‘B’ Division Warri, led by the DPO, SP Bolarinwa Alabi and on May 16 by the Command’s crack squad after raiding a criminal blackspot around Osuani in Patani Local Government Area of the state.
One of the two suspects, Nworie Emmanuel, who’s 20 years old, was arrested while raiding Warri roads with his syndicate on tricycle to dispossess victims of their phones.
Edafe said the suspect was a member of a three-man gang of armed robbers who used a tricycle to rob, at knife-point, innocent people of their belongings along popular Airport Road in Warri.
On the other hand, Priscillia Amor, 35, who was arrested in Patani, saw 26 wraps of weed suspected to be Indian hemp, 19 wraps of substance suspected to be Methamphetamine, eight packets of razlers, some mobile phones and other exhibits recovered from her.
