Police Nab 25 Suspected Cultists, Bust ‘OBJ Drug Cartel’ In Delta

Operatives of the Delta State Police Command have arrested 25 suspected cultists and a drug peddler belonging to ‘OBJ Drug Cartel’ in Delta North and Delta Central Senatorial District of the state.

Acting on a tip-off, the command’s crack surveillance team, which raided a black-spot in Okwuchi quarters, Eku in Ethiope East Local Government Area of the state, arrested 24-year-old Larry Onifon.

The suspect, who claimed to be a fashion designer, was arrested on February 1 in the drug neighborhood while other suspects reportedly escaped arrest.

Onifon is said to belong to a popular called “OBJ cartel” headed by one the fleeing suspects named OBJ.

According to the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Bright Edafe, 40 packets of 100mg Tramadol, 89 wraps of weeds suspected to be Indian hemp, four sachets of Swinol, three containers of Loud and 55 wraps of suspected cocaine were recovered from him.

DSP Edafe, in statement made available to journalists on Thursday, said the 25 cult suspects belonged to Black Axe Confraternity and Junior Supreme Aiye Confraternity.

He said the were arrested on January 31 at a criminal hideout at Agbor.

He quoted the Commissioner of Police, Delta State, CP Ari Muhammed Ali, as appreciating his officers and men for their tireless efforts in the fight against crime and criminality and admonishing them to be alive to their responsibilities and discharge their duties effectively.

Edafe quoted the CP as also thanking “members of the public and other stakeholders for their continuous support and partnership with the Command,” assuring all that the Command under his watch would not let them down.
