No fewer than six persons died on Monday and 12 others injured in multiple accidents along Lagos – Abeokuta road.
Stonix News gathered that the multiple crashes occurred at about 2:10p.m at Lala/Keke axis of the Lagos – Abeokuta old road.
Vehicles involved in the crashes were identified as a Mitsubishi Canter marked XS595JJJ, Mazda Bus E2000 with Reg. No. LSR266YD and another Mazda E2000 Bus marked LND01YE.
Image-maker of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Ogun Command, Florence Okpe, confirmed the incident in Abeokuta on Monday.
She identified excessive speeding, dangerous driving and loss of control, due to wrong turning, as probable causes of the multiple crashes.
Okpe, who is the Public Education Officer, explained that the driver of the Mitsubishi Canter was navigating a turn without observing the road codes, while the driver of the Mazda bus lost control of the wheels, leading to a crash.
She further disclosed that a total of 38 persons were involved in the accident, out of which six died while 12 others sustained injuries.
Okpe said the injured victims were rescued and taken to the State Hospital, Abeokuta for medical attention, while the six corpses have been deposited at the morgue of the hospital.
